Alan, This was widely known and Apple has been saying this ever since they released iOS 10. There was even a place in Settings > General > About where you could see a list of apps which would no longer work under iOS 11. In any case, staying on iOS 10 for a few old apps which were abandoned by their developer is not a long-term solution. Developers were also informed that their apps have to be 64 Bit and I’m almost certain that if a developer hasn’t done this now it is because they have abandoned their app and are not interested in updating it. If you had stayed with iOS 10 you would have just postponed the inevitable.
