Jonathan, One question I don’t think I’ve heard a clear answer to, How would a
totally blind user interact with the face ID with a minimum of aggrovation?

Hi Sieghard and all, yes, my iPhone X is arriving tomorrow. Because of the time
difference, it means I’ll have it before they arrive in the US. I’ll be
unboxing it, setting up face ID, playing with new gestures, making a purchase
and even doing a recording from the phone on The Blind Side Podcast 61. When
it’s published depends a bit on when the courier delivers, but I expect it to
be late Thursday night US Eastern time. So even if you’re getting a phone on
launch day, if you’re in the US you should be able to hear the podcast first.

Pablo,

You should definitely buy the iPhone X, it is the ultimate smartphone and blows
every single Android phone completely out of the water.

OK, I’m just jerking your chains, but there has been a lot of discussion about
the iPhone X since the September Apple keynote, the phone was available for
preorder last Friday and will be available in stores and start shipping this
Friday (November 3). Of course there is no way you would get one at this point
probably until the new year because Apple is not at all able at this point to
supply as many phones as are in demand despite the steep price tag.

I am sure some on the list will be able to snag one, for one thing Jonathan
Mosen is planning to buy one simply because that is his business and once he
gets it I am sure he will publish a very detailed and well-produced Podcast on
all it’s features.

For now just rest assured that both Face Id and all the gestures have been made
accessible by Apple, this iPhone has no more home button hence no more Touch
Id. The only way to unlock it is either by entering a passcode or by training
the phone to recognize your face. In case you didn’t follow this, Apple says
the chance somebody else could unlock your iPhone with Touch Id was 1 in 50,000
and they claim that with Face Id this is now 1 in a Million. This of course
does not apply to identical twins where Face Id can apparently be fooled.

Enjoy your new iPhone X.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: gesters for iPhone X

Hi guys,

I have a few questions about the new iPhone X.

I know that this phone has not been released, however I believe that you have
found some information about this new device.

I understand that this phone doesn’t have a home button. I also understand that
to activate siri people needs to flick on the side, and to close an app do
another gester. Using voice over, how this gesters are going to work?

I don’t know if this topic has been handled on the list. If it is the case,
could someone let me know?

Thanks
