I know you can text from an iPod Touch or an iPad. The only way people could text you back is by using your email address. Though, there are some services that assign phone numbers to their app so you can use a phone number for texting, but I have no idea which ones and what is currently available. I do not know if the touch or ipad can text to non-apple devices. Richard
