Tom, I am having the same problem. I have gone to the apple store, I have called the help line and had my phone restored, and have cleaned the phone. Also have redone my finger prints. When I redo my prints it lasts for about a day. I will say it is worse in the winter but I do still have this problem in the warmer weather. I have a six s and it is very annoying. I am seriously considering facial recognition.

Are your fingers wet? Is your finger cut even slightly? As soon as I got my fingers to heal up everything fixed itself. Not had this problem on my 8 Plus. Oh, one more thing. Move the position of your finger just a touch. Sometimes that will work. I also have found this is more difficult to use when hands are extremely dry, as mine are. I know exactly opposite of what I just said, but seems too wet or too dry are bad for the sensor. My hands are like sandpaper unfortunately so I have to keep using lotion on them and then wait until my wrinkly fingers dry back out before the button works. If nothing like this helps the problem I agree with Sieghard. A trip to see a genius may be in your future. Sorry you are having this problem and hope my ramblings might help. I have the latest update. As of recently, a month or so, my finger print will just not work. I’ve cleaned the phone and had sighted people clean it for me in case I’m missing something. I’ve deleted the finger print and redid it. After that it will work for about two days, then it stops working again. This is a real problem when it comes to Apple pay and signing in to certain financial websites. I’ve also tried it without the case with the same results. Any idea what can be going on? Could it be this slow down thing that everyone is talking about. The iPhone works fine in every other aspect. Thanks. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
