ActiView was such an app. The problem with these types of apps is that though many people want to use them in the theaters instead of the receivers, it seems that the apps that have come out, support a very small number of movies. I used the Disney Movies Anywhere app in 2016 to see Finding Dory in a theater that did not have description. That was an amazing experience and the app just worked like it was supposed to. Though Disney promised that one could use it for other types of Disney, Pixar, or Star Wars movies, I tried to use it for the 2015 Star Wars film on DVD, and it did not work. That app has since been discontinued.
