Hello Dionesque, You ask an excellent question. I have given it a lot of thought and, by my way of thinking, two-step verification is a very good thing, by and large.
However, I generally do not recommend it for older people, say those over 75, who only have 1 Apple device. To my way of thinking, the two-step system works best when one can have a security code sent to a second trusted device. Of course, one can use two-step verification with only 1 Apple device; however, this requires a third-step, said step opting to have the security code sent via SMS to a trusted phone number. This process, for many casual users, at any age, can be a bit daunting, to say the least. In the past 12 months, I have received over 10 requests, from various acquaintances, wanting me to disable two-step verification. All of these acquaintances own only 1 Apple product. As for me? I use the two-step verification system, along with Touch ID on all of my primary devices that contain any personal info and I suggest others do the same. As for the steps to avoid it, when prompted, just select the "Not Now" button. I have a 6 S Plus, running iOS 11.3, using an iCloud account that does not have two-step Verification, enabled. I know big brother is looking out for me, but I don't want him to, nor do we need him to. If this can be avoided, would someone please include steps on how to do so? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers! Sennt from my iBarstool. Arguing with a woman is like reading a software license agreement.
