Jim, I don't know if you said how long before your trip, but Judith Dixon wrote an excellent book called Get The Picture that is available from National Braille Press in Daisy, or word, or of course BRF. She is blind and got advice from many photographers and while the app section of the book is a bit out of date, the techniques are excellent.
I think it is $15 and the proceeds go to National Braille Press as I recall.
