Hi Casey, The configuration will be up to you and how you use the phone. I use the screen away mode because that's easiest for me. Others like the table top mode. I can't tell you how to use the table top mode. The screen away mode I can tell you about. You hold the phone so that the screen is away from you in landscape. You put your left index, middle and ring finger; on the left and then the index middle and ring fingers on the right. Now you can just start brailleing away. When you are done just use your rotor and get out of Braille screen input and it will automatically be in your mail or text. It is basically a keyboard already in your phone. It is not a stand alone app.
