I bought a BI14 this morning; it is on back-order. I’ll let you all know what I
think. The thing that decided me was watching a video about pairing it with the
phone. The Focus Blue requires that dreaded PIN to be typed in, which is why
I’m not using my BrailleNote as a display for the phone! ARGH! I’d like more
cells, but I wouldn’t like spending more money.

Thanks for the feedback.

Susie

Hello,

I have a Brailliant 14 and I agree with some of the last posts notes on the
device.

1. I actually love the feel of the keyboard. I think that the keys have a very
nice feel to the when typing.

2. I too am not a big fan of the cursor routing keys. I actually have started
to use the rotor action/key commands to navigate text rather than using the
cursor routing options. Note: The joy stick in the center of the keyboard can
be used to navigate by rotor settings.

3. The braille is very crisp, it is one of the best braille displays I have
used.

4. Battery life is fantastic.

5. Connection is a breeze as it uses an Apple style W1 chip to connect
seamlessly with the iPhone.

I hope this helps,

Well, I am one who is returning the loaner unit that I got. The cloud synch it
is kind of cool. But I just don’t like the unit itself. I think the keyboard is
flimsy feeling. And I’m not satisfied with just 14 cells. It’s too few. That’s
just my opinion. If you have a dealer, they should be willing to lend you
something. Or, I suppose you can get one from humanware and return it within
whenever limitations they have in case you don’t like it. You might love it.
It’s a good idea. It’s just that keyboard is really a drag in my opinion. Your
mileage may vary. The braille is nice and crisp. The touch cursors take getting
used to I prefer the traditional cursor routing buttons to these funky touch
cursors, but that’s just me. Others my love them. I think it something you have
to see and decide for yourself.

Anybody got a Brailliant 14, and how does it work with the phone? I remember
there is someone here who sent theirs back, so I’m just wondering if there are
happy customers out there. I am still dithering about a braille display for the
phone. I really want those routing buttons, I think, which eliminates the Orbit.

I know I keep asking about this, but I need honest information, not sales
pitches from Humanware staff (grin)
