I think some of these smart thermostats are overpriced and are trying to be too
smart. This is why I like the Honeywell Lyric T5, it’s reasonable, it offers a
schedule of course but it doesn’t pretend to do anything else like “learn”.
Granted, Honeywell has the “Round” thermostat which I think also does this and
which also costs more, for me spending $300 for a thermostat is just overkill
and I bet a lot of people use a thermostat like my wife and I, we turn it up
when we want it warmer and down when it’s too warm. Our schedules are way too
irregular for a schedule and the beauty of these connected thermostats is that
you can turn the temperature up or down from anywhere so there is not as much
of a reason to program a schedule so it's warm when you come home, simply tell
it to go up to whatever temperature you want 20 or 30 minutes before you get
home and it will be warm when you get there.
I admit that I do use a schedule at my retail store, but that is easy since we
open at 9 AM every day and close at 6 PM so getting the thermostat to turn on
at 8:30 AM and off at 5:30 PM is easy and then on Sundays when we are closed we
just keep it cool. I would rather spend $150 or there abouts and have a
thermostat which works well with SIRI and Alexa as the Hoeywell does than to
spend double just so my thermostat tries to learn what I want but it doesn’t
work when I’m at home and tell Alexa to make it 2 degrees warmer.

Best regards,
Sieghard

I have the Nest, which works great with the iPhone, but not 100 percent
accessible with Alexa.

Subject: Talking/accessible thermostats

Hello,

Not sure if this topic has been discussed before. I am in need of purchasing a
replacement thermostat and looking for feedback from others of what people are
using. The VIP 1007 bit the dust and I am looking for different options
including, but not limited to talking thermostats. I know there are smart ones
out there with Alexa and IOS, but I would like to know how accessible they are.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff
