Yes, you swipe down, then double tap and you repeat this for each email you want to delete. The alternative is the old method which is to double tap on "Edit" at the top left of the screen, then double tap each email you want to delete and then double tap once at the bottom left of the screen where it will say "Delete 8 messages". Note that I just used 8 as an example, it will indicate whatever number of messages you selected for deletion. I guess if you have to delete more than 3 or 4 messages this still involves a few less taps, but I find the new way of flicking down and double tapping to be extremely convenient and it's very easy and quick to do.
