I use Fantastical all the time and find it splendidly accessible. It nicely combines reminders and calendar functions and has a built-in parcer for understanding anything to do with dates and times of events. You can type or dictate events and everything is nicely organised. There is a bit of a learning curve so take the time to figure things out. I've been very happpy with Fantastical for years now.
