I’m not Ed, but here’s what I know. The Brailliant 14 does not have a space for
an SD card, so you can’t read your stored .brf files on it. It does have a
program for synching with the phone to take notes; I haven’t tried this yet.

The only complaint I have about my Brailliant 14 is that the routing buttons do
not always do what I expect them to do. It’s not an actual button; it’s like an
embedded switch and you slide your finger into it to activate it. Sometimes it
works.

Since I actually own two BrailleNote Apexes, I didn’t need the Brailliant to
take notes and read books and such.

Hi Ed;
Does the brailliant 14 have note taking capabilities? If it does notcan you use
notetaking capabilities on the iPhone as a substitute? Also,is there anyway to
put files on the brailliant 14 so that it could possibly be used as a
standalone device? thank you Anthony

Hello,

I am a HumanWare Brailliant 14 user and I love it. Before I had the Brailliant
14 I was using the Freedom Scientific Focus 14 (This was on loan from a program
in my state). I found this braille display to have amazing braille but there
were just simply too many buttons on the device. I am loving the simplicity of
the Brailliant 14. As you said in your email every person has their preferences
for braille displays.

We have an orbit reader and absolutely love it. It has no fancy bells and
whistles but displays Braille beautifully and pairs beautifully with phones so
I hear though we don't do that. It won't scroll but will take any braille file
you put in it.

Hello Lelia. My condolences.

I have a Brailliant 14 for my phone. You do have to pan, and since It only has
14 cells, the speech is usually ahead of how fast the Braille displays. But I
really like it. I tried the new BrailleMe from a company in India and could
never get it to pair with the phone. I have seen a demo of something called El
Braille from Freedom Scientific, or whatever they are calling themselves now,
and it is really cool---it's a Windows 10 tablet dressed up to look like a
notetaker.

But on my desktop I use an Alva Satellite 570, which I bought used. So I am
not the source of the latest and greatest. Of course the Alva will have nothing
to do with the phone. (grin)

Hope you can find something that will work well for you. Braille with the
computer has become so essential to me that I can't imagine trying to do
without it.

Susie

Well, this is a very sad day. My braille display said goodbye to me. I shocked
it and I shocked it goodbye. So there is a few things that I am wondering, do
any braille displays automatically pan to the next page or line or do you have
to manually do that with all of them? Another thing I’m wondering is if anyone
has used many braille displays which do you think is the best for you? I do
realize that what is best for one is it best for all. I am just wondering.
