Usually turning off the phone, opening the SIM tray and closing it again then
turn on the phone will fix this.
You don't have to completely remove the card, just push the release button with
the removal tool or a paper clip, pull the tray out half way and push it back
in.

This happened on my mom's Sansung last week. Not sure why it happened, either,
since it's in a case. The guy at Verizon store did something really quick and
she was back up and running.

Subject: report of missing Sim card

Hello, I have a six month old iPhone eight, living in an otter box, and
yesterday it reported no Sim card. When I try to use the phone as a phone,
it's reporting no signal.

My Apple dealer is 20 miles from me, and it may take some doing to get
there.

How can I check this myself? Can one of these tiny cards come loose or go
bad?

Any advice would be helpful.

Gratefully

Geoff
