Same as a phone call. If I put the phone to my ear or cover the top of the phone with my hand and then take it away it automatically switches to speakerphone. I can also find the "Speaker" button and tap it if that doesn't work, if the keyboard comes up you may have to hide it just as on a phone call. I should say that I have simple voice mail, not visual voice mail. I am quite sure, however, that with visual voice mail there is a button to switch it to speakerphone as well if you can't get it to auto-switch, but try to cover the top of the phone where the earpiece is with your hand for a second or two and then take it away to see if that switches it. .
