I don’t often use the barcode channel, but all others and especially short text 
work great.
I often use the short text channel on my computer screen if for some reason 
Jaws quits or if there is an update in progress where Jaws doesn’t yet speak, I 
have used it on my washing machine’s LCD screen and I use it all the time if I 
quickly want to read a document but don’t have the need to save the result.

I often wonder why some people use the Seeing AI app successfully, and others 
can’t.
That is a mystery!  I have talked to people using the Seeing AI app with no 
problem, and I just can’t imagine how that can be, but I know it is a fact

Seeing AI was updated 2 months ago.
For those having issues on a new phone when it worked fine on the previous 
phone, it is highly unlikely it is the app.
The only way to sort out what the issue is will involve working with Apple 
Accessibility.
I have an iPhone SE, and all channels work fine.
I have clients with iPhone 8 pluses, XR's and XS phones that are using it 
successfully.
