that really sounds wrong. I don't have bluetooth hearing aids, but I have tested it with wired earphones and bluetooth earphones, and it hasn't gone to the speaker once.
Are you sure you have the update? Which phone do you have? You really should write the developer through the settings. I'll be interested to know if things change for you tomorrow.
