No, the same thing happened to me. Apparently the Uber app underwent a big
rewrite. Also, uber offers two kinds of shared ride services. the first is
the regular Uber pool, but they also have something called Pool Express, and if
you are not careful, that is what you get. This service is cheaper than Uber
Pool, but you are expected to walk to the nearest intersection, and you are
generally dropped off at the nearest intersection to your destination, kind of
like riding a bus. I have not been able to figure out how to avoid ending up
with Pool Express. Personally, I have abandoned uber for lyft because their
app is a lot easier to use.

Subject: problems with sharing rides on the uber app

Hello: recently I tried getting on Uber using the shared ride setting where
you could have up to 2 persons. Before when I used this I was able to indicate
the number of seats needed. This time I didn’t find this feature. When I
requested a ride I was instructed to go to a distant corner to meet the driver.
Not being familiar with the area I was not able to find the location and the
driver left. Has there been a change in the uber appp recently making this more
difficult to use?

  Thanks for any help.

  Martin Nelson
