Eva, I'm curious what the status bar tells you about your wifi connection and the number of bars you're getting. Also, if I want to quickly prod my wifi, I open the control center by placing focus on the status bar, doing a 3-finger swipe up, swiping to airplane mode and turning it on then off again. A scrub gesture will close the control center and return you to your previous location.
