Agreed, I'm just used to manual or when I open the mail app to take a look. That is when I need to see them all and it doesn't do much to battery really when like that.

Yes, you can have as many email accounts as you want. I have 5. You set them up under Settings, Passwords and Accounts, and you will find each account is available in the mail app separately, or you can choose all mail if you want to look at them all in one place, which I do not like, but to each his/her own.
