I'm honestly not sure which is better. I know some people in some areas were having trouble getting the audio descriptions. I think most had good success with the PBS Videos app, though, as you say, it is doable, but not straight forward. I'd say try it with Safari and see if that is any better, but I'm going to guess using their app might be as good as it gets. HTH,
