Yes. I would recommend reading and writing in six-dot braille, uncontracted, first, especially for languages like German and Spanish, which do have contractions like English braille. That way, you can learn which braille symbols are accents and such. You can also use speech to help with this too, reading and listening character by character to any accented letters used.
