Zipping audio files hardly reduces them in size, so if one thinks they will save room that way, they are mistaken. But, yes, for organizational purposes, especially if one uses something like Voice Dream Reader, it is a good way to save them. However, apparently, 7Zip has a format that is more for their app only, rather than a generic zip format if I read a couple of the messages correctly. I would tend to use the generic Windows zip and exaction method these days as it is easy and quick.
I think though that even with the 7Zip format, the files app can open and extract them, but I haven't had any of those files to test it with.
