I think maybe Richard means the indicator which used to be in the Status Bar at the top. In iOS 12 if you had a Bluetooth headset turned on and it supported showing battery status it would show up to the left of the iPhone's battery indicator in the status bar. This is no longer available, to me this also makes sense because I can see only the status of one device there and to me swiping right from the home screen to get to the Today Screen and checking battery status there is no more complicated than to touch the Status Bar and then find the battery indicator there.
