Greetings, I was just shown a scanning stand/box called Scanner Bin. It is heavy cardboard by the feel, but seems pretty sturdy. It is basically a box with a good sized hole in the top where you place the camera, and put your document in the bin and do your scan. It worked quite well with Voice Dream Scanner with the flash on since the bin has no internal lights.
Sadly, the guy who makes this has videos all about assembly and use, but they are clearly focused on someone who can see what he/she is doing. I'm not sure I'd want to fold it up and reassemble for travel, without more information about its durability. But if you have about a foot square of desk space to leave it, it looks like a good alternative to other stands.
