Hi Richard, This is the 1st time it's ever done this for me as well, but after I opened / closed contacts a couple of times VoiceOver was back to reading normally again. My text size is at 100%, which raises another question, and I use Samantha

Which voice are you using? What font size do you have set? You may just need to reboot the phone by holding the power and home buttons for 8 or 10 seconds and then wait for it to come back on.
