According to an earlier post it's not beneficial to use your old SIM card because it'll hinder the performance of the new SE model.
Technically, the SE first generation and second generation take the same size SIM card. However, the new SIM cards are much faster, so Apple recommends getting a new SIM card with the new phone. I was told by an Apple staff person that I could set up the new phone with the old SE SIM, but should then get a new SIM card as the performance will be much better. Take care. Mike. I’ve always purchased direct from Apple until my last phone when I had to buy from the carrier, Xfinity, because that was before they offered the program where you could bring a phone to them and get it set up with their service. They didn’t offer Apple Care;; but their own warranty which was ridiculously expensive.
