According to an earlier post it's not beneficial to use your old SIM card
because it'll hinder the performance of the new SE model.

Technically, the SE first generation and second generation take the same
size SIM card.
However, the new SIM cards are much faster, so Apple recommends getting a
new SIM card with the new phone.
I was told by an Apple staff person that I could set up the new phone with
the old SE SIM, but should then get a new SIM card as the performance will
be
much better.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

If you are planning to pay full price for a phone why not buy an unlocked
phone directly from Apple. Then all you have to do when you get it is put
your existing SIM in it and go through the setup screen and you are done.

If you are in the habit of buying Apple Care, it is $79.00 from Apple, or if
you want Apple Care plus theft protection $149.00.

I’ve always purchased direct from Apple until my last phone when I had to
buy from the carrier, Xfinity, because that was before they offered the
program where you could bring a phone to them and get it set up with their
service.

They didn’t offer Apple Care;; but their own warranty which was ridiculously
expensive.

I went with Apple this time and since Xfinity wasn’t listed as one of the
carriers they work with, I bought the no SIM model.

It is all down to personal preference.

I’m ready to preorder the new SE 2020. I can pay full price thanks to the
stimulus check. I’ve gotten my last two phones from Verizon, but wonder if
there is a perk to buying from Apple directly. The price appears the same.
Verizon’s website says they’ll waive the activation fee if I buy online;
maybe the same is true if I activate via Apple. Verizon will unlock the
phone after 60 days. Apple has helped me in the past when I locked myself
out of my phone, even though I didn’t have Apple Care. So, is there a
reason to buy direct from Apple or is this just a preference thing?
