I'm not Alan, but yes if you do not have unlimited data. If you have unlimited data, it is fine. If your WiFi signal is weak, if wifi assist is on, it will switch to using cellular, and if you happen to be streaming a movie, that can eat a lot of data. I pay by the gig, so I make sure that is turned off.
