I also sometimes don't get the tone. I have determined for me this happens most often if I am doing something else in another app or on internet. Wish it could be changed, but perhaps this was done on purpose by Apple to not bother someone on another task? I don't really think this is the reason, but it is the only one that makes sense to me. Maybe someone else knows?
