Let me start over. My mistake.

The phone is set to never lock. Passcode is set to use after 4 hours. So, if
the phone is locked manually, and it stays locked more than four hours, the
passcode is needed. Can it be changed to not need it if the phone is locked
without turning it off?

It's not my phone so I'm probably not explaining it very well.

First, I think you meant 4 minutes, not 4 hours.
If you have a phone with a home button, setup touch ID, and it will primarily
ask for the passcode after you reboot it, but if you just lock it and come back
later, the finger print will unlock it.
If you have a phone with no home button, setup Face ID.
Same thing, if you don't reboot the phone, you should be able to unlock it
with the face ID.

    Hi,

If you have your phone set to never lock, will you have to type in your
passcode whenever you unlock it?

Right now the lock screen is set to lock every 4 hours, and the passcode
needs to be written each time to unlock it. How can I keep from having to type
it in so often>
