Hi,

One simple way is to turn off the cell data option via
Settings / Cell Data

Then try whichever app you are interested in using. With "cell data" turned off
you will only be able to get data from the internet if your WIFI is active.

You can also check the status line for the WIFI signal strength which is just
to the left of the time value. IOS will always choose to use WIFI if it is
available.

You might also want to check the WIFI Assist option in the "cell data" option
in Settings. If this option is turned on then IOS will try to use cell data
when your WIFI signal is very weak or inconsistant. If you have a weak WIFI
service, this option can end up consuming some of your cell data allowance to
retrieve data. from the internet.

Good luck,

Our internet has been down most of the day so I was using data about an hour

I am using rather than data?
