Also, the amazon echo. Now has HQ music. and you can add external speakers, if you wish.

I primarily use my Echos as an online digital library and enjoy its ability to answer my questions accurately. I think Amazon's system works better and more accurately for this sort of use and considering it came along about three years after Siri, I expect it will just continue to excel over time. I have a pair of HomePods, and they totally blow the echo away. But they really are music listening devices, or podcasts, or playing your Apple TV, like Peter said.
