Hello, There is a setting in messages settings which can be set to allow SMS messages to be sent if iMessages are not available. If this setting is off, this may prevent the sending of SMS messages. Also, APN settings need to be correctly set. This may be an issue if the phone is an unlocked one which was brought to an MVNO, for instance.
