As far as I am concerned, such setting does not exist from a mail client.
Things must be changed on the server side IE. Gmail.com if that is the email
provider.

I have seen settings in the past for pop3 where emails will be moved to the
mail client but keep the copy on the server side.

If you want emails to be deleted on the mail client and server side, imap
configuration is what you want. This can be changed on the server side via
settings.

I’m not running POP3 anywhere, so I can’t look for this setting myself, but
there should be a setting in your email client that says something like delete
messages from the server when I delete them on this device. Ditto when you move
a message to a folder. Until the messages are actually deleted from your
server, they’ll continue to be downloaded.

In the mail settings there is a option for how long to keep the email. I would
also look at a third party email client.

Hi all,

I have a strange one for you. I am trying to figure out why when my husband
goes through his emails on his phone and deletes them and even empties the
trash folder, when he goes back in to read more, these emails come back. Is
there anywhere on the phone that you can turn off to save a copy of messages on
server? It looks like that is what is happening. He is using pop 3. Or do
you have any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
