Yes to all 3 questions is correct, but keep in mind that if your mechanical switch is turned off the smart bulb will not work. We have Philips Hue bulbs and lights throughout our house. For my wife and myself this is no problem, all our switches are usually turned on and we just ask Alexa or our Google Assistant or SIRI (Philips Hue works with all 3) to turn off whichever light. However, when we have visitors they are often confused, so let's say they walk into the bathroom and press the decora wall switch which is in the on position, but the light is turned off via the smart bulb, then of course nothing happens because they just turned off the light. Then they usually press the switch again the other way and of course the light now comes on. When they leave the room the turn it off again and at that point my wife or I first would have to go around the house and turn on all the switches when the visitor or visitors are gone and then carry on with using voice controls to turn off the lights. I bought most of the Philips Hue bulbs years ago when there were not as many options available, but if I had to do it over I would not buy smart bulbs but rather smart switches. Yes, you have to get an electrician to install them and depending on how old the place is there is a small chance they may not work because they require a third "neutral" wire" which in some older installations is not there, but if it is there I would absolutely go for smart switches instead because they work regardless whether somebody just pushed them to turn off the lights. The switches from Meross are quite good, they are not as expensive and work with Alexa and Google Assistant, also very good are the ones from TP Linka nd Lutron. I just did a huge renovation on a new building I bought for my retail business and I chose to spend $1,000 on Leviton smart switches. I bought the main switches for $54.99 Canadian from a company called Aartech Canada, the nice thing is that for $29.99 you can buy what basically is a remote control switch for 3-way or 4-way installations. These are switches which communicate via Z-Wave so they are not Wi-Fi, but Leviton also makes a Wi-Fi version of the switch. I bought these because I have an alarm system from Alarm.com and these switches communicate via Z-Wave with the alarm panel and I can use the Alarm.com app to control the lights, I think you can also set up SIRI shortcuts and possibly Alexa and google Assistant integration, havent Really explored this yet. I am pretty sure the Wi-Fi version of the switch is compatible with SIRI, Alexa and google Assistant. These are basicallyu decora-type in-wall switches and they are of very good quality and look nice. A Smart bulb is cheaper especially if you don't get the ones which support colours and for Fasil if he just wants 2 or 3 bulbs this may still be the better way to go, but in any larger application or a new house I'd never put anything but actual smart switches. Best regards, Sieghard

Yes too all three of your questions. A smart light-bulb can only work with a mechanical On/Off switch. You obviously need to leave the switch on after setting one up for it to work with Lady A. I got Echo Dot and installed Alexa from the App-Store. I have three questions, 1. Can I use smart light-bulbs in old buildings? 2. Can I use smart bulbs along with traditional bulbs? I mean I want smart bulbs at a couple of places only. 3. Does smart bulb work with mechanical switch too? Thanks! -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
