I find the fourth generation and the fifth generation to be pretty close and 
how they sound. I too like the US voice, and I am not bothered by the tinniness.

It is more tinny than the 4s, but less tinny than the 3rd gen touch.
But, I'm happy with the default U.S. voice where a lot of people I know can't 
stand it and use the Australian voice instead.
So, it is hard to quantify such a subjective thing as how voices sound.
