Thanks, Gera. I was very fortunate indeed but it was really nice knowing others
on this list were offering instructions and concern. I've learned more about my
iPhones here than anywhere else during the past seven and a half years and am
very appreciative of this list.

Alan and listers

What a relief! I felt as if I were the one witnih the situation! Somethig
similar happened to me sevral years ago, but within an iOS update (not the big
ones). The iPHone had stopped talking, and was in the middle of the
update/restart process via ITunes, and ITunes Here in Mexico we don’t have Apple
Accessibility, but Thank God I was with a very knowledgable iPhone friend over
Whatsapp, and he directed in getting the problem resolved. What a relief! Thus
I really was like “oh my lease let it resolve!” While you were telling us about
your situation. And as you say, it’s definitely an experience! To learn from!p
with some sort of error code! Thank

Gera

Hi List,

I want to thank those who posted well wishes and instructions for recovering my
iPhone SE after a failed attempt to restore last night's encrypted iTunes
backup following a reset of all settings as directed by Apple Accessibility. I
spoke to another Apple Accessibility person named Patricia who was very
helpful. She directed me to start iTunes on my computer and with the phone
disconnected, to press volume up, volume down, and then hold the side power
button and connect the phone to the computer with its lightning cable while
continuing to hold down the power button. This put the phone in recovery mode.
iTunes prompted me to either update or restore the phone. I attempted the
update at first but this was a no go because my iPhone screen kept displaying
the Apple logo appearing and disappearing for a few seconds at a time. After
the update failed, I got into recovery mode again and did a restore which
worked to reset my iPhone just as it was when it arrived new. I was then able
to restore last night's backup when prompted to either start using it as a new
phone or to restore a backup. This restoration took a bit over an hour and all
my apps had to re-download again but I got all my settings back including
everything that was reset when directed by Willard at Apple Accessibility. I
have no clue what caused the phone to hang as it did during my first restore
but I'm very glad I got everything back. I'll chalk this up to a learning
experience.

I just want to encourage everyone who is planning on doing an iOS upgrade,
especially a major one such as with iOS 14, to backup your device before doing
so. You never know what might happen during the upgrade and having to start
over fresh can be most time consuming.
