Carolyn, you may have had focus on the time in the status bar and that is why it kept announcing it.

It was not obtrusive, and I didn't mind, so didn't shut it off or try to. I'm not sure what I did to get that started or what I would have had to do to get it stopped. I use it when I am out riding, as with the different sounds, it gives me a good way of telling how long I have been out, with out actually needing to take the phone out, or fiddle with a watch, whilst I have my hands occupied with lizzie's reins. the app is completely accessible as well.
