True, but I don’t think this is any different from any other mailing list I’m on. IMHO, we can’t control what or how others post, especially if we’re not the moderator. With every list, each person has to decide if the list is worth their time or not. The list will go on just fine if someone decides their just not getting enough out of the list any more and leaves.
If you’re not already using a threaded mail client, you may want to look into this option to help you quickly delete those threads you’re not personally interested in. Note that better and more meaningful subject lines would end up helping you and others manage list traffic.
