It shouldn't. But, the QWERTY equivalent key might be different on the braille edge. What do you hear when you press space+dots7,2?
If nothing, temporarily change the typing feedback for hardware keyboards to characters and try again. I don't know if the braille edge manual has a list of qwerty commands.
