Hi Chris, All you have to do is make sure your phone is unlocked, then open the lid of the case, then wait for VoiceOver to ask you if you want to connect. It is a pretty easy process. Once they are paired to your phone, they should work with all of your devices signed into your iCloud account.
As for gestures, the Airpods have tiny little sticks if you will that hang down by your ear coming sort of close to your mouth. You squeeze on these things to do what you want them to do. One squeeze is to start music and answer and hang up calls and the sort. If you double squeeze, you will fast forward the music. If you squeeze and hold it for a second, it changes it from noise canceling to transparency mode. These are a few things that will get you started. Have a great day!
