Hello Simon, The British keyboard has 79 keys, but the American one has 78. Also, the Return key is a different shape on the two keyboards. The French keyboard is like the British one, but the keys are labelled differently. The British one is qwerty, and the French one is azerty. The labelling of the keys is transparent to the device it is used with. The layout is set on the iDevice or computer. I have a shortcut to switch rapidly between French and English on my Mac, which has keys printed with the French layout.
