I just re-downloaded AIPoly vision. It thought my sink was a toaster. My dishwasher it thought was a close dryer. It kept saying different things for the same object if I held the phone steady on one thing. It has not been updated for 3 years and has an in-app purchase of $4.99 for full access. Frankly, I wouldn't use it for free. Object recognition will get better with all these apps I'm sure, but the main things I would use a scanner for is reading, currency identification, and product lookup. Especially by barcodes and especially if expiration dates were included which they do not seem to be in most barcodes, and finding that info on the label is very difficult.
Everyone should forget about using an iPhone camera for color as it is highly dependent on lighting and the same color will be reported as widely different colors depending on the lighting. You need a dedicated hardware device for colors in my opinion based on many years of experience. Richard, in the U.S. "You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young." "Why, what did she tell you?" "I don't know, I didn't listen." -- Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy * I'm not the card shark * My web site, www.turner42.com<http://www.turner42.com> From: viphone@googlegroups.com <viphone@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of Holly Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2020 1:13 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Supersense first impressions. I haven't tried this app yet, but was wondering if anyone has compared it to Aipoly Vision, which is free for Apple products. It will identify objects, colors, recognize animals, plants, food, currency, etc.. I have had it on my phone for a couple of years, but haven't used it lately and not sure if it has been improved .
