Hi Richard, Simon & Mr. Ed, Okay, my wife and I spent almost 1 and 1 half hours on the phone with Apple accessibility and we never did get the issue fixed, so to speak. We can get Siri to read the driving directions but, we can't make the setting stick. So, everytime we want to use audio driving directions we will have to go into the control center to set it to, iPhone, or we can turn bluetooth off so the phone doesn't connect to the vehicles navigation system. I don't know what update changed how this worked, but it was 14dot something. I've read about connecting the phone via a USB / lighting cable but, that's a long way around correcting something Apple screwed up. We do have work arounds and the audio destination on the rotor doesn't do any good since Voiceover won't speak once the phone connects to the vehicle's bluetooth. I've shown my better half how to make Siri read the driving directions when I'm not with her, but when I'm with her we just use my phone since I don't have my phone set to connect via bluetooth to either of our vehicles.
After thinking about it a little bit, this could also be something that Toyota did when updating the navigation system software, but according to research not likely. Anyways I'm just glad we do have ways around the issue. My wife absolutely will not take her eyes off the road to read a map, and with the crazy ass drivers out there I don't blame her in the least bit. Thank you guys very much for your input. Stay safe and take care. It could be doing that annoying thing where the volume goes too low. I guess to also make sure that Siri is set to give feedback all the time? This sounds beyond annoying. I don't know when this happened, but before when she was driving with the phone connected to any of our vehicles bluetooth system she could ask Siri for driving directions and they were spoken through the phone instead of the car stereo. Right now once the phone connects to the vehicles bluetooth I can't get Voiceover to speak and it's definitely activated. The phone is not muted but, I just don't know where to turn at this point to get the driving directions back to speaking through the phone. Will someone please give me steps on how to get the audio driving directions back? All help is greatly appreciated and graciously accepted! Thanks mooy moocho. Stay safe and take care.
