I agree the company has a markup and takes in some profit off of the devices they sell, but this profit doesn’t automatically or directly go into the pockets of the shareholders. You only have to watch the performance of the stock market in the last year to see how disconnected stocks are from a company’s actual health and performance.

You could still have your iPhone, presumably at the same price point, if the manufacturing was done domestically by well-paid fellow citizens and the shareholders would still, I'm certain, smile all the way to the bank. Apple is not the enemy, the Corporation only does what it shareholders tell it to do. Capitalism is about seizing opportunity, and clearly, the opportunity is our obsession with Apple products which is carefully nurtured every day. This schema really needs a rethink on behalf of North American working people, or our future may be altered forever.
