Hi Donald,

Good for you to figure it out. Using USB hubs can definitely cause problems
and while I use them too, if, for example, I upgrade my phone via iTunes I
usually plug it in directly to the computer to avoid such issues.

OK, now to music. I will give you the basic steps, give it a try and let me
know if you need more help.

First, connect your phone and go to it in the source list.

2. Tab until you hear music and press the space bar to check it.

3. Tab further until you hear "Sync Music", check that as well.

4. Tab a couple more times and now you have 2 options:

A. Sync All Music - I think that is what it says, it may be "Sync Entire
Library", but it's obvious. If you check this all the songs you have in
iTunes will be synced.

b. "Sync selected genres, artists, albums or playlists". This is also
descriptive and if you don't want your entire library on the phone because
maybe it's too large or you just want selected music, then check this.

5. If you chose to sync selected music, now tab again and you will get to
some list views for Genre, Artist, Album etc. Here you can down arrow
through the list and press the space bar for each item you want to select.
For example, if you are in the Genre list and you want "Rock" and "Jazz"
just check those, if you want selected artists go into the artist list view
and check the artists you want. All of this does, of course, assume your
music is properly tagged with ID3 tags for genre, artist, album etc.

6. Once you are done tab until you find "Apply" and activate it. This will
start the sync process and the selected music will sync to your phone.

It's really a pretty simple process and you probably get the hang of it
pretty quickly.

If you buy music from iTunes and you want this to appear both in your iTunes
library on the computer and the phone I recommend you go into "Settings",
"General" and "Store" on your phone and make sure the option to
automatically download music is selected. You can do the same for apps and
books. On the PC go to "Edit", "Preferences" and find the "Store" tab. Here
you can check the same items to automatically download. If you do this and,
for example, buy a song or an album in iTunes on the PC, it will
automatically download/sync to your iPhone, no need to do anything. The same
is true if you buy something on your phone, it will automatically be
downloaded on your PC the next time you open iTunes.

Good luck,
Sieghard
