Ann, Do you understand there are no commas and I never screwed around with the punctuation settings? As default behavior; this sucks!

Punctuation groups are a nice feature that was added a couple of years ago. I suggest making a new group. You base a group on one of the existing groups and can then make modifications as needed. You can also change how VoiceOver pronounces certain things. for example, I have it pronounce braces as "Left brace" and "Right brace" instead of "Left curly bracket" and "Right curly bracket." Since most text-to-speech engines pause for commas, you could have it not speak commas to fix the deletion issue.
