I’ve encountered a problem with my iPhone 8 since installing iOS15.1. I often prefer to use the speaker during a phone call, but when I pull the phone away me it does not switch automatically to speaker.
I’ve gone into the VoiceOver dialogs to make certain I have that option enabled - I do. One time (and one time only) I began fiddling with the Volume-Up & Volume-Down buttons on the side of the iPhone 8 and it corrected, but this is by no means consistent; I haven’t been able to get that to work a second time at all. I’m considering doing a full reset, but don’t care to take that step without first asking if anyone else has run into this problem and if there is a less overwhelming resolution. I dislike doing a complete reset since that then requires going back into Settings to re-establish personal preferences.
