I actually agree with Apple on this. I trust IOS and the Apple developers to know more about managing memory, performance and cache than I trust myself trying to do this manually. That being said, I do periodically clean out my App Switcher just to make it easier to ump between apps in the future, and I will clear things out of the App Switcher and reboot to clear up problems I may be having. I also do this when updating to a new version of IOS just to start with a clean slate.
