Hi. I tried the method mentioned, but there was a major problem. When I tried to enter the code on my old iPhone, there was no keypad on the screen to use, and I think my Bluetooth keyboard was already unpaired from it.
Just my experience. For me, all was well thanks to an iCloud backup. Even my old Apple Watch worked with my new phone.
